11/9/23 – I thought about running a table tennis tournament for year 2 to year 6

18/9/23 – Announced the tournament to school in assembley, lots of interest and lots of students signed up!

18/9/23 – Checked table tennis table, hinge is broken, table is unusable! Disaster has struck!

20/9/23 – Headteacher (Mr Slape ) and year 6 teacher (Mrs Strange) shoved it back together.

22/9/23 – I announced the tournament again to parents and students in Achievement Assembly. 

25/9/23 – TOURNMENT BEGINS – with a bang! Already 6 matches have been played.

25/9/23 – This evening, I was trying to write up the results, when disaster struck… again! One of the players, named Monty has played 4 games to reach the final however Elliott has played noone! Even is Monty won, and Elliott lost, Elliott would still come second and would only have lost one match. We’d been playing ‘winner stays on’

So I have redesigned the tournament to be a knockout style one but also a group stage for year 4 and 6 because there are 12 students in it, which means there wouldn’t be the right number for the final.
